This was another fantastic performance by the 3rd National Tour. There was one different cast member from the last time I saw it. It was Angela Pupello as Eponine. She did a terrific job. And Christopher Yates as Enjolras really brought up his energy from the last time I saw him. They also fixed some of the sound problems from the last time around. This was an especially memorable performance for me. Because through a mutual friend, I got to meet Chuck Wagner (Javert) backstage. He took me and a couple of friends I was with on an incredible backstage tour. I saw the costume racks and several props like Javert's police baton and the Confrontation chair. Then the icing on the cake was when he let us go out on stage and see the set. I felt like I was dreaming because I was such a huge fan of the show and never thought I'd see it from this perspective. I remember the first thing I did was touch the barricades just to prove it was real. Then I looked at the sewer opening on the ground. Then I checked out the orchestra pit from above. And Chuck Wagner told us this funny story that had happened on the tour's previous stop in San Francisco. He told us how Gina (Farell who was playing Mme. Thenardier) literally got flung into the orchestra pit after the turntable spins at the end of the Thenardier Waltz. He said she landed on somebody in the drum section. This was definitely one of the most memorable nights.
