The 3rd National tour was not as strong as the last time I saw it.  However, they still did a very good, credible job.  Donn Cook as Valjean had a very good voice and acted his part well as did David Massenheimer as Javert.  Alice Ripley as Fantine was a terrific singer who interpreted her part very well.  JP Dougherty and Gina Farell were also well received as the Thenardiers.  The highlight of the show was Gary Mauer as Enjolras.  He had a great pop/theatre tenor voice.  And his acting was great as well.  Then Hayden Adams as the Marius understudy was a very good actor in his part.  But he had a voice that sounded too mature for the character.  Jennifer Rae Beck as Eponine had a very pretty, sweet sounding voice and interpreted her part well.  But she didn't have any power to her high voice. She sang the end of On My Own as well as A Little Fall of Rain in a light head voice instead of belting it.  Barbra Russell was good as Cosette.  There were terrible sound problems again with the microphones not picking up the chorus on their big numbers.  They sounded very muted on numbers such as One Day More and Do You Hear The People sing, etc.   The orchestra was also not balanced.
